What a great opportunity to discover some of Ireland's loveliest landscapes on horseback, trekking along forest trails and mountain paths and cantering along miles of sweeping golden coastline. Co. Down, it's claimed, has more horses per head of population than any other part of Europe. There are 19 Equestrian centres with indoor and outdoor tracks and activities including trekking, hacking, show jumping, racing and point-to-point. The centre has about 15 quality horses and cobs to suit the more experienced rider. They do not cater for beginners. They offer one hour rides on quiet roads and track, and two hour rides in Tollymore Forest Park. Holding the reputation as one of the friendliest racecourses in Ireland, horse racing has taken place at this course for over 300 years. A new covered grandstand and associated facilities are now open, catering for over 2,500 people.
